ISIS is a non-profit, academic research institute within the School of Engineering of Vanderbilt University. Its personnel includes academic faculty, research staff, and graduate research assistants.

Research staff includes research scientists and research engineers, who lead and support externally-sponsored projects. Research scientists are recognized leaders in their field, and they are responsible for the scientfic aspects of the projects. Research engineers are the highly-skilled developers who are responsible for the implementation of the research ideas. Our work is often challenging and is at the cutting edge of systems and software technology. We have a variety of opportunities available for undergraduate students throughout the year. We start accepting applications for the VU-ISIS Summer Internship Program in January of each year. Each Spring we offer a seminar centered around societal implications of cyber-physical systems. Participants of the seminar are eligible for an NSF funded research internship with collaborating universities in Germany. Details about applying to the program can be found here.
