Assistant Professor Aniruddha S. Gokhale has recently been granted the honor of receiving a National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program Award.
The CAREER award is bestowed nationwide to those junior faculty members who exemplify a drive towards integrating research and education while conducting meritorious research. This distinguished award will help support his research surrounding general-purpose middleware development and specialization. By trimming dispensable features and customizing those which are necessary, Dr. Gokhale hopes to enhance performance of middleware within embedded systems such that it becomes more pliable to specialization, requires less maintenance, and provides for increased developer productivity.
Dr. Gokhale received his Bachelor of Engineering degree, with a computer engineering focus, from Pune University in 1989 and a Master of Science in computer science from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona in 1992. Following that, he received his doctorate degree in computer science from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1998. Prior to joining Vanderbilt University as faculty in 2002, Dr. Gokhale was a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent Technologies. His professional memberships include IEEE and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
