William Barbour and Raphael Stern named 2018 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellows

Graduate students William Barbour and Raphael Stern have been named 2018 Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellows by the Federal Highway Administration. They received their awards at the 2018 Transportation Research Board Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. The fellowship is awarded to students pursuing advanced degrees in transportation-related disciplines, and is selected on the basis of academic achievement and the merit of the proposed research. William’s research concerns the development of data driven prediction and optimization methods for problems in freight rail networks.  Raphael designs traffic control algorithms that use a small number of carefully controlled autonomous vehicles to reduce stop-and-go traffic.
