Please join me in congratulating Yanbing Wang in being named a Sidney P. Colowick Graduate Scholar at Vanderbilt!
Dr. Colowick was a professor of microbiology and an American Cancer Society professor at Vanderbilt, and he was a member of the National Academy of Sciences (http://www.nasonline.org/member-directory/deceased-members/56794.html ). He made many contributions to metabolic biochemistry by aiding in the development of our current description of glycogen metabolism in mammals. He described hexokinase, an enzyme involved in cellular energy and sugar transport, which has important implications in understanding how cells sequester energy from carbohydrates. This award honors him and his contributions to science.
Yanbing is one of three graduate scholars named across the entire campus. Congrats to Yanbing!!!
